A novel algorithm which extracts the d e formation-phase from two continuous fringe patterns is proposed. The velocity fi eld between two consecutive frames is estimated by the basic assumption of optical flow analysis,So the whole- field deformation-phase map is obtained by the estimation of the velocity field and the local frequency of the original image, which is calculated by windowed Fourier transform algorithm.Only two continuous fringe patterns are required in the deformation-phase measurement. Moreover, the new algorithm works perfectly at the areas with dense fringes. In this paper, the proposed algorithm is introduced and applied to simulated and experimental interferograms . The results of simulation and experiment show that the new method can demodulate the deformation-phase from the visible optical flow velocity field without unwrapping process.Further more, dynamic deformation phase extraction wi ll be realized when the time interval of two continuous images is known. This paper provides a new approach for whole-field deformation-phase measurement and dynamic deformation measurement.
