By using the numerical solutions of the density matrix equations of motion of an open V-type three-level atomic system,the effects of spontaneously generated coherence(SGC) on absorption and dispersion of the system are investigated in different respects.It is found that the coherence can lead to lasing without inversion(LWI),electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT) and high dispersion without absorption.
