Abstract:A two-layer parallel optical interconnection network with rotary joint function was designed. The top layer is a star network with throughput more than 10 Gbps made up of a digital routing node(DRN) and optical network interface cards(ONIC);while the bottom layers are ring networks made up of ONIC with peak transmission rate of 1.056 Gbps. The application of fiber optic rotary joint(FORJ) expands the flexibility and using range of the network. The peak throughput of the network is 8.448 Gbps. The average transmission delay time of and between the rings is 2 195 ns and 4 713 ns,respectively.Bit-error rate is (BER) below 10~(-14).The maximal link distance between node computers is 5.46 km.
