Abstract:The thermal effect of rectangle-section laser crystal induced by high power laser diode(LD) eccentric-end-pumped was investigated.A thermal model of laser crystal with the actual characteristic was built and the general solutions of rectangle-section laser crystal temperature field and pump-face thermal distortion field were obtained by a new analytical method.The eccentricity of rectangle-section(ERS) laser crystal by eccentric-end-pumped was defined;the temperature field and pump-face thermal distortion field influenced by the ERS of diode laser were analyzed.The result shows that with the ERS increasing,the maximal temperature rise and maximal thermal distortion will be migrated and decreased.Compared to the centre-end-pumped,when its ERS is 0.5 and 0.75,the maximal temperature rise of Nd:GdVO_4 crystal will decrease to 3.3% and 12.2% respectively,and the maximal thermal distortion on pump-face will decrease to 8.8% and 27.4% respectively.
