Abstract:Organic heterostructure photovoltaic(PV) devices,in which 1,3,5-tris-(3-methylphenylphenylamino) triphenylamine (m-MTDATA) and bathophenanthroline (Bphen) were used as electron-acceptor and electron-donor,respectively,were fabricated by the method of physics vapor deposition(PVD).PV parameters (open-circuit voltage V_(oc),short-circuit I_(sc) and fill factor FF)of the devices were described when irradiated by a 365 nm UV-light (4 mW/cm~2).i.e., the device exhibited V_(oc)=1.3 V,I_(sc)=0.089 mA/cm~2 and FF=0.22.The power conversion efficiency of the m-MTDATA/Bphen device is 0.64 % under irradiation of UV light (4 mW/cm~2),The m-MTDATA/Bphen device also showed relative bright yellow electroluminescence(EL) emission generated from the exciplex between the two organic layer. The threshold voltager is about 4 V and the maximum brightness is 1 350 cd/m~2 at 14 V.The properties of the devices were also attributed to the strong exciplex formation in the interface between m-MTDATA and Bphen.
