Abstract:Charateristics of ultrashort optical pulses based on electroabsorption modulation lasers were investigated by numerical simulations and experiments.The effects of DC reverse bias voltage and modulation intensity on pulse duration and extinction ratio were discussed.The optimum of operational parameters were provided and Gauss-like pulses of repetition of 10 GHz were outputed,with the extinction ratio maximum of 14.3 dB and the duration of 21.4 ps,which were compared with the outputs of LiNbO_3 modulators(LN MOD).
