    摘要:

    对基于保偏光纤(PMF)级联的偏振模色散模拟器(PMD emulator)产生的二阶PMD进行了数值模拟,结果表明,采用偏振控制器(PC)连接明显优于可旋转连接器(FC)连接,当级联段数N=8时,PC连接的模拟器产生的二阶PMD与理论曲线基本符合;PMF的长度对PMD模拟器模拟二阶PMD并没有明显影响。

    Abstract:

    The second order polarization mode dispersion(PMD) of PMD emulator based on concatenated polarization maintained fibers(PMF) has been numerically simulated.We demonstrate a PMD emulator using connectors between PMF sections that generates an ensemble of fiber realizations by randomly rotating the connectors.When the number of the PMF is up to 8,the second order PMD distribution of this PMD emulator with polarization controllers between each section shows good agreement with that in a real fiber when averaged over an ensemble of fiber realizations.For PMD emulator having same PMF sections,the distribution of second order PMD is more close to the ideal distribution using polarization controller than using rotatable connector between each section.There is no appreciable difference between the second order PMD distribution of PMD emulator with equal length and unequal length of PMF.
