Tissue optics is an important theoretical basics in laser medical applications. An important approach of measuring the optical properties is to measure the optical diffusion properties of tissue, and then calculate parameters. We have designed and achieved to measure the optical diffusion properties of manmmalian tissues. The backscattered reflectance and reflectance due to lateral light diffusion have been measured on porcine and bovine muscle in vitro.
